Can hearing aids make tinnitus worse?
No. In fact, hearing aids help alleviate the symptoms of tinnitus. Many people report their tinnitus being worse at night, when their environment is quiet. If you have hearing loss and tinnitus, then you may experience ringing in the ears more frequently because of how quiet the world is around you. Hearing aids will provide amplification that can distract the brain from tinnitus. Living with tinnitus doesn’t have to be difficult. What is the lifespan of hearing aids?
Hearing aids have a typical lifespan of 3-7 years. For your hearing devices to last you longer, it’s important to care for them properly by storing them in a safe, dry place and regularly cleaning them. In addition, you should bring your hearing aids in every six months for a maintenance check.
Is hearing loss a disability?
Hearing loss is considered a disability if the person scores 60 percent or less on a word recognition test. This would be considered a moderate hearing loss. Hearing loss can affect your communication skills, relationships, and work performance. It’s important to manage hearing loss with hearing aids and to be vocal about any kind of support you need, both at home and in the workplace.
Can devices like Apple AirPods Pro function as hearing aids?
Apple has introduced features that allow AirPods Pro to amplify sound, assisting those with mild hearing difficulties. However, they are not a replacement for traditional hearing aids, especially for more severe hearing loss.
